Toffee Pumpkin Spiced Lattes

By Amber Woods on Thursday, November 9, 2023

Why am I spinning through the autumn oak leaves in my brand-new to me, thrift store workout skirt? Why have I been throwing bunches of freshly fallen leaves in the air daily? And why exactly have I been walking my cat on a leash around the neighborhood? The neighbors may be wondering why do I …

By Amber Woods on Tuesday, November 7, 2023

I may not know a lot about fashion blogging, okay I know very little about fashion blogging but I do know (Now) That when you are crossing an international border you might not want to dress like a redneck. Did our family learn this the hard way at the international border crossing this summer? Well …

In our neck of the woods here in southern California, yes it is fall at last. No that does not mean baking with pumpkins, at least this year. This year that means just what the hell shall I do with five hundred peaches? I hope all of my friends and family love Peach Indian Chutney, …

Gluten-Free Sticky Toffee Pudding

By Amber Woods on Friday, October 27, 2023

It’s fall here in southern California. That means leaves crunching under my hiking boots once again and I’m no longer afraid to turn on my oven. If it’s early September then I am faced with a difficult conundrum, should I turn on my oven? Or should I take my fat ass for a hike? This …

About Me
Amber Wood
Amber Wood

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at Hungrymountaineer@gmail.com for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
