Dirty Campers

Revenge of the Alcoholic Brie cheese eating yuppie Raccoons

By Amber Woods on Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Last week I spent my days off camping in the mountains. Yes, camping a mile from my house. Camping right outside my front door is actually quite nice. It means I can simply drive home (thirteen minute round trip) when I forget camping essentials (Like my super warm Uggs) It also means the store …

That Ruckus in San Diego

By Amber Woods on Tuesday, August 2, 2011

What’s more fun on a Saturday night in San Diego than pushing a half dead Subaru through hordes of Padre’s fan’s after a day at the race track? While the drunks of San Diego heckle yours truly? ? Drill ? A two day trip to San Diego should not be filled with this much adventure. …

“Yup, that’s Herpes!”

By Amber Woods on Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I’ve been known to have a back problem or two in my day. I work very hard, I lift a lot of heavy stuff, not to mention, I hike and work out a lot. Because of all this, back pain is nothing new to me. Its usually my lower back; I have degenerative disks. This …

So many hats!

By Amber Woods on Monday, July 25, 2011

? ?? Mr Commons ?? ? Hats sunshine, more hats, ponies, beer, hats and maybe a five dollar win ticket? This is what a day at Del Mar is all about! Opening day at Del Mar 2011 was a good time, but I would never, ever do it again. It was truly, a madhouse. 46,000 …

Hike. Jeep. Repeat. Big Bear's only outdoor adventure guide
Amber Woods
Amber Woods

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear Lake’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest. I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a alpine adventure enabler who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at Hungrymountaineer@gmail.com for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert and a backcountry Snack Sherpa. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
