Just what the hell is a chaffle, you may be asking? Is it a new dance move? Is it like the Trump dance? Will it get you thrown in Facebook jail? (Again) Or is it the greatest addition to keto brunch you will ever find? Here in January, living the keto lifestyle, yes my waffle days may be behind me but I can still inhale half a bag of broccoli for breakfast with a side of cheese and cream. Maybe I’ll fantasize I am actually enjoying waffles.
This New Year’s Eve, there will be no dancing, Trump or otherwise, not with a sprained ankle. I can barely limp my way into my mountain kitchen to chaffle!
Trump Dance or Chaffle; You decide
One thing about the chaffle, well it won’t have strangers yelling at you for doing a silly dance on social media with your dog! True story. Yes, as Big Bear’s most notorious hiking guide, I’m also an outspoken conservative and apparently, if you are right (Oh so far right) you are just not allowed to have an opinion here in 2025.
2024 was the year I lost friends due to my political views. Seriously. I survived the Bush years with backhanded remarks, snide comments and smirks but my liberal friends couldn’t hang in there for another four-year Trump term. Nope they are not ready to be seen in public with little ‘Ol conservative me (In a MAGA hat)
But forget about New Year’s Eve and all that hullabaloo. If it’s January 20th then that means this conservative neighborhood is celebrating. Sure it may be a Dry January for us so no champagne this Jan 20th but perhaps we will chaffle or at least do the Trump Dance.
Broccoli Ham Cheddar Breakfast Chaffle
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar
1/4 cup chopped good-quality ham
Poached broccoli, chopped
3 eggs, whipped
1 teaspoon Greek yogurt
Salt and pepper
Mix your eggs, Greek yogurt and salt and pepper. Fold in the cheese and the ham. Layer this all in your greased waffle iron. Stud the top with the broccoli pieces. Close the waffle iron and cooked until your waffle iron very smartly tells you it’s done. Drizzle with my fantastic
