N is for…. No Pictures Please

By Amber Woods on Monday, April 15, 2013

I have no great pictures of any of the races I have run, whether it be a 5 K or a half marathon.   All the pictures taken of me at these events are way to embarrassing for Face Book.   I look exhausted in most as I powered through so many miles.   I look annoyed in …

M is for…$$$$$

By Amber Woods on Sunday, April 14, 2013

I was watching horse racing this morning and they were talking about winning money, of course. Than the conversation turned to rolling around in bed with a bunch of money.   That just sounds disgusting to me.   Money is so germ covered.   I hate cash, it’s just gross.   Why not just throw a handful of …

L is for… Lions and Tigers and Bears

By Amber Woods on Saturday, April 13, 2013

You know that feeling when you have nothing to blog about except the next six mile run and all the rocks and trees and squirrels you see everyday?   Than you run around a corner and see a tiger!!!!   True Story. This really happened to me today.   Not only a tiger, but yes …

K is for.. Umm.. Krap?

By Amber Woods on Friday, April 12, 2013

I was basking in the after glow and excitement of seeing this on my six mile run this morning when something horrible happened. As a runner I have never swallowed a bug, but today I had the next closest thing happen. I had taken off my sunglasses just briefly a few miles back. It was …

About Me
Amber Wood
Amber Wood

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at Hungrymountaineer@gmail.com for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
