Life of Adventure

The Streets of San Diego

By Amber Woods on Tuesday, August 19, 2014

Its weird being a small town girl visiting a big city.     Even if that “big city” I only three million people (As far as big cities go, not really that big)      I’m not going to say I dislike it; I mean I enjoy being able to walk places.     I like the idea …

Verizon: a Useless Waste of My Money

By Amber Woods on Saturday, August 16, 2014

Working nights means I see a lot of crazy shit.    Like the customer who threatened my life a few nights ago ( he had just got out of jail! You would think Mr Crazy Pants would not want to go back there right away!)    I live in a rural mountain community thirty minutes from …

Congratulations train station in Munich! You are no longer the most discussing bathroom I have used in my life!       Now let me just say I am not afraid to poo anywhere.       Explosive disagree in the middle of the forest?       Done it!       Pooped myself while on my morning run a mile …

Chive Lemon Cream Cheese Breakfast & wich with Cucumbers and Sprouts

In my opinion Milton’s breads, especially their multi grain bread, is the best health conscience and yet delicious bread you can buy at a grocery store.     Being that their breads are packed with whole grains and delicious ingredients like oats and barley of course Milton’s would have to have an actual cafe in the super rich …

Buffalo Burgers with a Red Pepper Mayo and Goat Cheese

By Amber Woods on Saturday, August 2, 2014

When I was thirty years old and going through my divorce I lived in my parents fifth wheel for a summer.     During this time I missed my kitchen.     I missed having my own space to cook and being able to cook healthy meals and blare my music and cook and dance …

About Me
Amber Wood
Amber Wood

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at Hungrymountaineer@gmail.com for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
