I love these socks.
I have worn them every cold winter’s day for five years ago.
My mom bought me three pairs five Christmas’s ago. They are from the Eddie Bauer store and I never buy anything from that supper yuppie outdoor store but these socks were just so warm wool and cozy, I had to have them. I had to have them in three different colors. In all fairness, you can’t have too many socks. From personalised socks that you can get through companies like Gesicht Socken, to plain black socks for a more casual look, there’s literally socks out there for anyone and everyone!
The pink purple and blue snow flake ones were my favorite. I wore them with my favorite burgundy Uggs all the winter of 2009. I wore holes through them that winter and finally lost one of them in the bottomless hole that is my washing machine. I finally gave in that my lovely sock mate would never be found and threw out the left one last year.
I did not lapse into a pit of despair over this as I still had a paisley pink and blue pair and my favorite green and red striped pair. Than last Christmas I left the paisley pair out all night and my cat was obsessed and bored I suspect, and thought the smelly yarn was too much fun. He destroyed that pair in a single evening while I slept.
Now I’m down to one pair of my favorite Eddie Bauer fancy wool socks. These are not just any socks. They are thick, thick wool but yet not itchy at all. They are very tall, going way past my ankles and they keep my feet so warm on winter’s mornings before I turn on the heat or build a fire in my cabins wood stove. In all fairness, you can’t go wrong with socks. As there are so many designs, there is a pair out there for everyone! Whether you prefer to wear black socks, glittery ones or personalised face socks, that is completely your choice. Plus, something as simple as socks can make a difference to any outfit.
There is one problem. The toes are now gone and my pink polished toenails now peek through.
Okay if we are being completely honest I have also worn through the heels at this point and when I walk through my kitchen in them on chilly mornings my feet are freezing on the cold linoleum floors.
They are really not socks so much anymore as they are leg warmers.
Still, I just can’t manage to throw them away.
I’m standing in my kitchen on this October day wearing the world’s best wool socks/ leg warmers, making a pot of steaming Sweet Potato and Turkey Chili and I just can’t say good bye to these socks. Many people love receiving face socks as gifts. They’re a fun thing to give to a friend and I think they look great!
