What came first, the chicken or the egg?

By Amber Woods on Monday, September 24, 2012

So I was reading this blog about chickens because well, I find chickens fascinating.  Okay well I find the thought of “free” eggs fascinating.http://www.frecklewonder.com/2012/08/06/chicken-faq   Okay, the author clearly says she got rid of her one rooster. She gets a question from a reader at the end asking how she knows the eggs were not …

“For a Lady!”

By Amber Woods on Saturday, September 22, 2012

“Do you have any nice cars for ladies?”    Don’t you always ask this when visiting a car dealership? I usually walk right in, loudly yell that I need to urinate RIGHT NOW because my small lady bladder is so full, than I slam my giant purse (Full of make up, tampons and fashion …

It’s almost fall. When I woke up this morning. It was fifty degrees. It almost felt like fall. I wanted fall so bad! I’ve been going through a bunch of old photos and found some gorgeous ones of the mountains, fall, winter, etc.    This weather makes me want to drink hot tea, make fire …

Me duele la cabeza

By Amber Woods on Tuesday, September 18, 2012

How hilarious is it, in the year 2012 to walk into a doctors office and pull out your full size lap top while you wait?      It is pretty damn hilarious and I was getting ALL kinds of looks, but I know I would be waiting for two hours for my appointment and that gave me …

Hike. Jeep. Repeat. Big Bear's only outdoor adventure guide
Amber Woods
Amber Woods

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear Lake’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest. I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a alpine adventure enabler who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at Hungrymountaineer@gmail.com for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert and a backcountry Snack Sherpa. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
