Ginger Citrus Juice with Grapefruits, Clementines and Blood Oranges

By Amber Wood on Wednesday, January 29, 2014

This seems like a dream.    Or a night mare.    Less than a month ago I was having a conversation with Phil and Annette, trying to reschedule a date we all could all meet up for sushi night.    Yesterday over two hundred and fifty cyclists participated in a memorial bike ride honoring Phil and his …

Bacon Wrapped BBQ Glazed Cheddar Jalapeño Poppers

By Amber Wood on Monday, January 27, 2014

If you are going to a vegans house for the Super Bowl you might not want to make these. Or you might want to make them and eat nearly all if them. They are that good. If you do eat them all, please don’t yell at me on Monday morning. These are absolutely the best …

Dead Golden Retriever; a Wine Tasting Adventure in Southern California

By Amber Wood on Thursday, January 23, 2014

There is nothing funny about dead golden retrievers.     It’s just kind of weird, that’s all, how they were sprinkled all over the Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula.     Okay to be fair, I had been wine tasting since noon and I had been power wine tasting as my boyfriend was DD and was therefore pouring …

Lamb Burgers with Spicy Feta Mayo

By Amber Wood on Monday, January 20, 2014

I’m having a love affair with Daphne’s Greek Cafe right now.        The closest Daphne’s to me is actually forty five minutes away and I have been finding excuses to drive forty five minutes to Ontario for the past two weeks.        Daphne’s has the best homemade pitas …

About Me
Amber Woodyard
Amber Woodyard

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at [email protected] for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
