Ginger Balls Holiday Punch

Why yes, I may be sipping on a Christmas cocktail and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. Go ahead and judge me. If the weather outside is “Frightful,” then I’m feeling delightful as I snowshoe through an early December forest through a foot of fresh snow. And even more delightful is this easy Christmas cocktail recipe.

Yule Be Sorry Tomorrow Punch

After a morning of snowshoe shenanigans that left the pup and me soaked to the bone—one of us smelling like wet dog and the other pretending it’s “mountain musk”—I decided it was time to acknowledge the obvious: if Starbucks can serve peppermint lattes before Halloween, I can declare happy hour at 2 p.m. on a Thursday. This, my friends, is the Christmas cocktail you didn’t know was missing from your life—part Santa, part snowstorm, part “why are my thighs still numb?” It’s festive, it’s fiery, and it’s guaranteed to make you forget that you still haven’t wrapped a single gift. Or located the tape dispenser. Or found the will to care.

This easy Christmas cocktail recipe is the holiday signature cocktail your friends, neighbors and family will love this holiday season.

This holiday season, enjoy this Holiday Hot Mess in a Glass after a morning of snowshoe shenanigans, where your Adventure Dog may or may not have brought a fresh donkey foot back home for her appitzer snack. Why did I agree to let this Fitly Animal bring the donkey foot back in my Jeep? My Jeep no longer has that new car smell. Now it smells like a petting zoo.

Ho-Ho-Hold My Drink

This pup right here? Well, she may be why I drink. But nothing is as fun as watching your pup gallop through a field of the fresh white stuff, with or without a burro foot clamped between her jaw. As for myself, I’ll be stirring up some Santa’s Red Balls Punch when I get back to the cabin. This easy Christmas cocktail recipe is the holiday beverage of the season!

Bonus points if you use a huge snowball as your ice in this festive cocktail as the ice cube.

Santa’s Jingle Balls Punch

1/2 cup cranberries

2 cups water

3-inch chunk of ginger, peeled and sliced thin

The peel from one orange, pith removed

1 cinnamon stick

1 star anise

10 dashes bitters

1 cup of ginger beer

4 shots of vodka

Mix the cranberries, water, ginger chunk, orange peel and cinnamon stick in a pan on the stove. Let this simmer 15 minutes. Strain the mixture. You can save whatever you don’t use in a mason jar in the fridge for a week.

To make your easy Christmas cocktail recipe, add bitters after your cranberry concoction has cooled. Mix vodka, cranberry mixer, ice or snowballs and enjoy this easy Christmas cocktail recipe all Christmas season!
