Life of Adventure

Today’s commute is brought to you by Del Taco

By Amber Wood on Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Randomness is just a part of my daily life and it was no different today as I raced down my local highway 330 to work an evening shift. I was taking my favorite mountain curves at the speed limit 55 when I came upon the daily traffic break where Cal Trans was doing their …

By Amber Wood on Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Okay well the roads in my neighborhood are pretty bad for a November morning, so its off to sunny warmer Lake Arrowhead for us. As we start our run on Highway 173,  I can …

When the Leaves come Falling Down

By Amber Wood on Tuesday, November 8, 2011

I woke up this morning with the stiff limbs of some one who ran four miles in the mountains yesterday. Is this what a healthy body is suppose to feel like? The answer, I believe is yes. A little pain is good for you, right? It means I got a great work out yesterday. One …

Game on Dude winning     Yesterday was a whirl wind fun filled day. It began at Santa Anita in the afternoon with a day of horse racing, amazing food and a few wheat beers. It ended with a night of screaming men chasing me with chain saws.      It was an extremely hot fall day …

About Me
Amber Woodyard
Amber Woodyard

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at [email protected] for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
