Croissant Bacon Cheddar Breakfast Quiche

By Amber Wood on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

This is the prefect kind of breakfast to have on a blustery autumn morning right before a few miles snow shoe hike.    This tastes even better with a pumpkin spice tea latte sweetened with sweetened condensed milk.    Unless your diabetic.    Than you might hate me right now.    Serve this breakfast quiche with hot sauce …

Chardonnay Dreams and Winners Circle Wishes

By Amber Wood on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

I can still feel the Fourteen Hands Chardonnay pumping through my veins as I walk back to the valet cursing the heels that I am wearing and my aching feet.      An autumns afternoon at Santa Anita Race Track means it is ninety two degrees with forty mile an hour wind gusts. This us California …

Coconut Oil Deep Fried Summer Squash

By Amber Wood on Tuesday, October 8, 2013

This is how you do it when you are camping in the Sierras.      If its a fishing trip that means deep fried treats and lots of beer.      We spent three days fishing eating delicious food and drinking way to much beer last week; such a perfect vacation.      We fished at Silver Lake off …

The Carneval Ball; Lobster and Crying Drunk Princesses

By Amber Wood on Monday, October 7, 2013

Our big reason to go to Venice was to attend a Carneval Ball. The day of the ball we tried not to do anything to crazy, we wanted to be rested for our big night out on the town, in Venice Italy. I was sharing a room at our hotel with two girls that …

Bacon Cheddar Potato Skin Casserole

By Amber Wood on Saturday, October 5, 2013

I’m back from my week long vacation.        The great thing about vacation is relaxing, having cocktails around the pool and having some beers around a late night fire pit as a million stars shine above you.   The down fall to vacation?   Well that would be going for a five mile run through poison oak …

About Me
Amber Woodyard
Amber Woodyard

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at [email protected] for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
