Wales; Cider, Castles and Sharp Cheddar Cheeses

By Amber Wood on Monday, January 16, 2017

Wales is a magical place. A land of castles cider and cheese; sounds pretty damn special to me! Such a magical place has to be a journey to get to, right? No, we didn’t storm the castle or slay any mythical dragons in our journey to Wales but the English country side had a little …

I’m a hiker. That is how I spend my hours, my afternoons and sometimes full days. I love a good trek up a pine covered mountains and hiking to pristine alpine lakes. I could spend almost a full day hiking up a mountain to a 10,000 foot summit. Here in India they refer to hiking …

Bed Bugs and Black Mold; Hotel Review of Hotel Royal Inn, Bangalore, A Royal Pain in the Ass

By Amber Wood on Sunday, January 8, 2017

I’m sitting here itching my fifty or so bug bites and cursing the name Royal Inn. We stayed at the Hotel Royal Inn in Bangalore for twenty three days and I would say fifteen of those days we had a major problem from black mold, to no running water to a possible bed bug infestation. …

About Me
Amber Woodyard
Amber Woodyard

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at [email protected] for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
