A Air Fryer Thai Tofu Salad with Konjac Noodles

By Amber Wood on Sunday, March 10, 2024

As a dog owner, we have all been there. You are wandering through the wilderness with your pup not a care in the world and out of the pristine wilderness comes a coyote, a wolf (Depending on what part of the country you live in)  or possibly a rabid poodle. What the fuck do you …

Crab Rangoon Crispy Rice Squares

Nashville is known to be a foodie’s Barbeque mecca. World-class chefs like Andrew Little and Sean Brock have tasty famous restaurants in Nashville. Iconic Nashville foodie favorite restaurants like Prince Chicken Shack and the Pancake Pantry with the line reaching around the block are cherished restaurant choices in this part of Tennessee. We just spent …

Spinach Gratin Stuffed Chicken

By Amber Wood on Friday, March 1, 2024

It’s early February and you know what that means! It’s time for keto, fatty! Yes, that means Christmas cookies and Honey Walnut Shrimp are a thing of the past. So what can I possibly have for dinner if I’m not deep-frying shrimp?  Cheese-stuffed chicken breast of course! Okay, there might also be spinach involved. If …

Ode to a Shitty Snowshoe

By Amber Wood on Monday, February 26, 2024

As Big Bear Lake’s hottest hiking guide (Because I’m so sweaty all the time) snowshoes are my business. Sure I would love to purchase two hundred dollar MSR snowshoes for my clients to rent but it’s just not cost-efficient for me as an outfitter. So this week I found a deal and accidentally purchased shitty …

Cinnamon Kahlua Iced Latte

By Amber Wood on Friday, February 23, 2024

Do you know who isn’t going to waste a ridiculous amount of money on a stupid expensive Stanley tumbler? This travel blogger! I didn’t purchase my awesome Jeep Trailhawk with cash by making frivolous purchases. And yes Kiki, that is what a coffee cup that is the same price as a car payment is! Here …

About Me
Amber Woodyard
Amber Woodyard

Hi y’all! I’m Amber, Big Bear’s local Hungry Mountaineer hiking nature guide. I grew up here in the San Bernardino National Forest and I have basically been out exploring hiking trails and enjoying the wilderness as long as I could walk. I have had some amazing adventures out here in the gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains over the years. As a hiking guide who is passionate about the wilderness, I love to share my knowledge of our vast trail system with vacationers who also love the great outdoors. Looking to book a hiking excursion? Email me at [email protected] for the best locals-only hikes available in this mountain wilderness. I am passionate about finding my balance in life – healthy living, great food, outdoor fitness, traveling adventures, working hard and my unbridled love for racehorses and naturally, gambling. When I’m not exploring news trails or betting on the ponies you can find me either coming up with healthy new recipes or blogging about the adventures my trail pup and I had in the wilderness this week. I have spent most of my life exploring what these mountains have to offer and locals would call me an expert. I know the best hiking and biking trails in these mountains and I have chronicled most of my hikes and adventures in my blog on this website. Please get in touch is you have any questions.
