Seriously nothing says I’m so hungover on January first like these delicious homemade pastries. It’s still the morning of Jan 1st, you don’t have to start juicing until Jan 2nd, right? If it is New Year’s Day and you need a deliciously sweet breakfast treat, for the love of God, put down the spinach juice and pick up that Nutella. These four-ingredient Nutella breakfast roses are so easy to make for your friends and family. And this Christmas morning breakfast is beyond delicious.
And here is some Christmas holiday lore…
Did you know that tall tale of why the noble donkey has a cross decorating his back? Legend has it that when the donkey carried Mary into Bethlem to bear Jesus on Christmas Eve, God then decorated the burro with the sign of the cross to thank the donkey for his part in the journey. The noble burro may have just been munching hay for his Christmas morning breakfast, but you don’t have to start that keto diet until Jan first! Put down the spinach and pick up the Nutella!
I don’t create the tall tales, I just share them on social media!
We have a lot of wild burros here in Big Bear Lake and I see them most mornings in the winter when I am out trekking with my trail dog. I mean before I go back to my mountain kitchen to create the best Christmas morning breakfast.
Unlike that legend, these Christmas breakfast roses are definitely not a work of fiction. If you are looking for the best Christmas morning breakfast for friends and family this holiday season, look no further.
Chocolate Almond Christmas Breakfast Roses
2 sheets of defrosted Puff Pastry
1 egg, whipped
1 cup Trader Joe’s Almond Chocolate
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
Roll out your sheet of puff pastry. Cut the pastry into rows using a pizza cutter. Wipe nutella on each strip and then twist each strip up. After the strips are twisted, form them into a circle or a Christmas morning breakfast rose. Use a pastry brush to brush them with Nutella. Bake at 350 for twenty minutes until just browned and toasted. Dust these Christmas roses with powdered sugar after you remove them from the oven.
