The Worst Patient

I’m the worst patient.

I told everyone; my boyfriend, my friends, my family, that I would be good and stay immobile and recuperate after my surgery.

Than this happened.

Yeah that is less than twenty four hours after I was released from the hospital and yes I am on a boat.

I find the water very rejuvenating?

That’s not even the worst of it. I was released from the hospital at eleven thirty a.m. on Friday.

I got home to our house in the mountains about two o clock as everyone in Southern California was also traveling to Big Bear Lake the Friday before the Fourth of July. None of these people seemed to realize that those big paved open spaces on the side of our mountain highway were where the slow people were supposed to pull over to let people who do not enjoy driving twenty miles an hour to pass.  It seriously took forever to deliver me to my front door as there was a lot of traffic on a holiday weekend.

I was in a hurry to get home and give myself a sponge bath, as yes, we had a dinner party scheduled for that night. My boyfriend and I had been planning to host Indian Dinner for a month and our friends were looking forward to Omelette Curry and Pork and Brinjal Curry so we just couldn’t bring ourselves to cancel! My surgery had been scheduled for the Tuesday prior, well that before Dumb Dumb, I mean my claims administrator decided to suck at her job and completely fuck up my surgery plans. I should have had a couple of days of recovery time in between surgery and our holiday weekend but it didn’t quite work out that way.

I resigned myself to the fact that I would just take my doctor prescribed Norco (although I would much rather have just had a glass of chilled pinot grigio!) and relax with friends and try not to hurt myself.

We must have hosted one hell of a dinner party, even though I was immobile in the back yard, sitting on patio furniture next to the fire pit all night. When we got up Saturday morning there were at least eight empty wine bottles in the recycling and our friends had left everything from vehicles to Iphones at our house. Great way to start a holiday weekend in the mountains! Followed by a day on the lake on Saturday and fireworks over the lake that night.

I really am the worst patient ever! This was the closest I could get to being immobile and taking it easy!

I understand the feeling. I was in the hospital for six weeks. I couldn’t wait to get back to my life. The only thing that stopped me from going out was that I had just had a baby. Take it easy!

Haha, at least you enjoyed yourself 🙂 and recovered well??? (I hope)! I am exactly the same, I had my second baby, stayed one night in hospital and then walked home the next day 🙂

It’s hard to sit still. I’ve been there. Bed rest, hospitalized most of my pregnancies. You just want sun, beach, fun. yeah! It’s hard being a good patient.
