Tandem Bike Adventure

Yesterday I sat on a beach in the sunshine and did nothing.
   Absolutely nothing.

   It was fantastic.
That has to be one of life’s greatest pleasures, just feeling the sand between your toes and listening to the waves and feeling the sun shine on your skin.
The beach is two hours from my home, and I really do not get down there enough.
Yesterdays adventure was riding a tandem bike from Balboa Island to some where in Huntington Beach. We did eighteen miles on a 1969 Shcwinn Tandem Bicycle with the original seats. And yes my ass hurts today. I’m sitting on a cushion as I write this. No really, I am.
I’m not going to lie; beers was involved to get me on the tandem bike. A nice Munchen Wheat Beer makes me much more brave when it comes to something like riding a bike for eighteen miles on a beach boardwalk.  I feel like yesterday I lived out an episode of Three’s Company. I’m so Janet.
It was seventy degrees when we arrived in Newport and so beautiful. The parking lot was empty, and I thought, why does everyone go to the beach in the summer when it’s so crowded? Oh yeah, because it’s 110 degrees inland and a smoggy nasty mess. Southern California is just gross in the summer time. That is for sure. That’s why I stay in the mountains in the summer.
In between beer breaks we laid out on a beach towel and just enjoyed this relaxing winters day in Southern California.
I think the bike pedaling helped my sciatica feel better, too. When I used to go to physical therapy, my therapist would have me ride the bicycle for thirty minutes to loosen up. My hip feels better today, even if my butt doesn’t!
