Exploration Trail, Part Two

   Exploration Trail…
    Conquered…
   Ow, my arms.

View of the road, an amazing sight after hours of running up hill

Yesterday I ran almost eight miles, the most I have ever run.
I’m not going to lie; it was tough. I never really got tired, but my leg muscles were hurting in the end. For the rest of the day yesterday my legs felt like they would give out at any moment.

Maybe it was from sprinting over bags of dog shit.

Seriously, why do people bother to bag for their dog shit, just to leave it for forest rangers to pick up on the side of the road? Take your shit with you! I feel like this is just a big fuck you to the Forest Service; like that’s what their job is, to pick up other peoples shit. No wonder they have such a good time ticketing people who forget their Forest Adventure Passes.
But more about running and less about poop; my arms hurt today. How are my arms so sore from running? My forearms are super sore today, but my legs are not sore at all, weird.

This run yesterday, all the way to the top of Exploration Trail and Echo Peak took me almost three hours. There was a ton of snow at the top and it was slow going up there, and that included falling into snow up to my waist a few times and just falling in general. Okay, could explain my sore arms today. I fall down a lot.
I will not do this complete trail again until the spring. It’s just to snowy at the summit. Which is really to bad because the top of the trail and Echo Peak are just so beautiful. This trail really went through a gorgeous area and it may be one of my favorite trails around. I can’t wait to run more of Keller’s Peak in the coming year. The top of the mountain is really gorgeous; green manzanitas everywhere with their brick red trunks peaking out of the snow. I saw lots of deer tracks in the snow, but no deer, boo. The top of the mountain is covered in Black Oak and I’m sure this run is so very pretty in the spring when the oak trees are in bloom.
I’ll be back to do this again in April when its a little more defrosted, and my arms hurt a little less.
